" 'Credibility' - I believe in you" (Post 89)

I was wondering what I would blog about today. I turned on my computer and I looked at my e-mails first. I was surprised by the “credibility” of a person I do not know; I received an e-mail from someone in New-Zealand. Three days ago, I left a remark somewhere on the internet underneath this person’s post, because he said something positive that resonated with me. He is famous for a few things (it seems) and he appeared very “learned” to me. To be honest, I do not remember what he posted and what I said, but I know it must have been something encouraging, otherwise I would not have replied to his statement. (I tried looking for his post and my reply this morning, but I could not find it; I will not mention his name, because I don’t feel it is the right thing to do here.)

Let me fill in the “sketch” a little more. He sent me a short e-mail and he asked me to tell him a little more about myself, because he values the people who comment on his work. I clicked on the links he provided and I learned that he is a creative on so many levels and “Success” could be a good second name for him. However, he worked very hard to reach that level of success I learned from his biography. I replied to his e-mail and I told him a little about myself, as he had requested. I added that he was actually a “remarkable” person, because it is not common for people to be interested in their “followers”. I sent the e-mail.

Synonyms for “credibility” are: trustworthiness, reliability, dependability, integrity, character, reputation, standing, status and acceptability. As I have mentioned, I do not know this person, but he touched my heart with his kindness. To me he seems to be a person with integrity. My “Credibility” oil on canvas diptych came to mind. This work comes from the 5 Visions group show that was cancelled in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It would have opened on the 19th of March, but Covid-19 put a stop to that. I will quote from the brochure that I would have given to the people at the opening. My collection is called: Approaching Abstraction.

I am an amateur musician and “song writer” who cannot appear in public, but who can entertain himself at least. I decided to link each work to a possible piece of music. My titles and musical suggestions are mere “handles in the clouds” for us to cling to as an “initial” approach to the works. As you will see my titles are rather sentimental and definitely “old school”, but all the more reason for you to provide an alternative if you so desire. You can type in the title and artist on YouTube and the song I selected can be played. Next to each work I provide a piece of piece of paper where the gallery goer can add any impression or awareness or “lack of awareness” as he or she feels, trying to place work within “mental parameters”.

The song that I linked to this work is: I believe in you by Don Williams. After I had made the collection of 90 works, I tried to give an appropriate title to each one and I decided to link each one to a song as you have read above. The ochre tones of the work evoked sentiments of “reliability” and “sturdiness” in me and Don William’s voice and I believe in you sounded like the “real deal”.

I trust you will have a “credible” day and that you will meet people with character. I am including the YouTube links for our 5 Visions show and for I believe in you.

Hello "aliwilmot". Yes, we get so caught up in the "small print"; we need to enlarge our chambers of expectation and we need to stay grounded. Be blessed. Thank you for the comment.

I came across the word magnanimity the other day - taking the large-minded view of things. It enables the possessor to meet whatever comes with a tranquil and firm spirit. Lovely word 😁
