"Joy" (Post 4)

Why do we try to compare ourselves to others when there are so many factors at play which we cannot see or understand? We have different personalities, different talents, different parents, different backgrounds, different visions, different dreams, different friends and different difficulties(, just to bring a little reality to the table).

However, when we are experiencing joy (together) we are united for a moment and our "evaluator"-brain is deactivated (I hope). I have an idea! Why don't we "compare" the things that bring us joy? This will definitely not give us room for negative comparisons and we need not find our place in the ranking order when it comes to joy.

I will speak about the art side of my being now. As an artist, one of the joys that rank highly on my "arty happiness scale" is the moment when I receive an art work that has been framed the way I wanted it done. A fresh gush of hope fills my artistic vistas and I feel I want to predict the future; I imagine those canvases to come beaming with colour and precision.

It does not have to be a paid for joyful moment as I have just described. It could be something small, such as a long lost friend who found your number and he or she wanted to know where you are and how you are doing. It could be so many things to so many people. Let us share our joys and ignore our differences. (Easier said than done, but shall we not try?)

Please note that I am not trying to sell my art works on this blog. I am "recycling" and "upcycling" or uploading my own images, simply because I can, and that brings me joy.

This one that I include today is called "Joy" and I made it more than 20 years ago and it is one of my favourites, which I kept for myself. (The photo is bad, because back then I did not own a good camera, but I trust you can still see why I derive joy from it.)
