TSoT = The Story of Trees

Let me butter you up to like this artwork or to read this piece. We usually know when buttering up is happening, because the preamble sounds too good to be true. Rest assured that I am not inviting you to participate in anything that is not wholesome; just take a bite of butter with me.
When I look at this drawing, I see a tree that appears to be holding up the sky. The brownish dotted branches are standing like buttresses forming silhouette shapes against the baby blue speckled sky. The painting is almost cut in half by the upward arching ochre mass dividing the sky and the veld. I used a variety of brown and ochre colours here which lend an earthy butteriness to the landscape, reminding me of the crust or a slice of wholewheat bread. Excuse my lavish referral to butter and its uses here; I am still buttering you up, remember.
