"Wonder" (Post 5)

This afternoon I heard the bad news that my friend was fired, with no prior warnings. The reasons for the company's decision are not clear and in fact they are breaking the contract he signed for. He is upset and bewildered as one can understand.

We wonder at times why such "nasty" things happen to us. As the saying goes, "life happens when we are making other plans", if I remember correctly. When unforeseen things happen we normally go into limbo (and learn to pray again) because we are so overwhelmed that we cannot adjust our sails immediately. It usually takes a while for us to work through the shock and shame. However, later when we have lived through it - with hindsight - then we wonder why we were so nervous and rattled back then. We often want to thank God that the previous employer fired us, that the toxic workplace is indeed behind us, because we would never have had the courage to move on or embark on a new venture.

When we are in the midst of forced transition it is not easy, it is painful in fact, but if we love God, we know that all things work will together for our good. Life will become wonderful again even if we cannot imagine it right now; let us expect a wonder from above.

I included a pattern which I called, "Wonder".
