Let us write a little poem today to articulate what the negatives and the positives in our lives are at the moment. Let us be honest with ourselves, let us label the distressing and count each blessing. We are anticipating the arrival of a vaccine and we desire liberty; let us not forget there are a few things we still have control over. (Let us list those things in our poems.) Once we have written our short or long poems, let us send it to a friend whom we know may appreciate our “vulnerability and praise verses”.
I am including a passage from my Journey with Jeddah coffee table book that relates to poetry. I hope it makes you smile.
… Something humorous happened pertaining to these large collages. Once they were finished, I listed the titles and I sent these images off to my friends, and my one friend thought I had written a poem. He even sent it to his friends as a poem.
Be intrigued by animal friends
Don’t speak of war
Give some love away
Hear the silence of water
Imagine the joy of a boy
Measure the power of a butterfly
Ponder the freedom of a bird
Reminisce about the rugged past
Smile at the camera
Taste a sweet treat
Who knows what may happen when we dare to take up the pen?
We may bring a spark to someone who is sitting in the dark.
If we need a little encouragement as to which positives to cast in words, let us take our cell phones and photograph all the lovely things we find, we can look at the photos and simply write down what we see and then add the adjective and adverb spices and before we know it, we can show it!
(If we can play a musical instrument and we can work out the chords,
we can try to add a little tune to our poems and then they become lyrics! Who knows, our poems may hit the charts!
If we can’t do it ourselves, someone we know may be able to do it for us.)
I am including some detail from the Hear the silence of water collage. Have a poetic day.
Thank you very much for the kind words. Be blessed.
Encouraging again! Hear the silence of water, what a lovely choice of words.
